How to Make Your Botox Last Longer

Botox is a wonder drug that never ceases to amaze me! As my patients know, Botox treatment results will typically be seen in about 3-5 days. Full onset of effect is achieved at 2 weeks, and duration of effect is approximately 3-4 months.

Here are my three tips to maximize the duration of your Botox treatment:

 

1.     Take daily Zinc supplements: In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, 92% of study participants who supplemented their diet with 50 mg of daily zinc intake experienced approximately 30% increase in the duration of their Botox treatment. 2.     Try combining a corrective chemical peel with same-day neurotoxin treatment: Patients who underwent a VI Peel followed by a same-day Botox treatment reported a 60% improvement in the severity of their wrinkles. The photographic evidence of before and after images at day 7 and day 30 were truly impressive. Furthermore, 100% of study participants agreed that their skin looked better after the combination of VI Peel and Botox – as opposed to solely their usual quarterly Botox treatment. 3.     Dose yourself appropriately: Let’s be honest. Dosing = duration! Avoid “baby Botox” and opt for the appropriate therapeutic dose of Botox well suited for longevity. Under-dosing multiple areas on the face may result in the Botox only lasting 1-2 months. Failing to wait a full 90-days between treatments can cause you to become resistant to the neurotoxin, negating its effects.
