I turned a patient away today.
She wanted to pay me good money and I wouldn’t let her.
I last treated this beautiful, young patient 2 years ago.
She assumed that since 2 years had passed that she needed some “topping off” of her filler.
But when I saw her, we realized there was no need for any additional treatments.
At 28 years old, she is not losing volume or structural support (yet.)
And the reality is that the filler can last YEARS without needing to be repeated.
That initial investment can yield a wonderful and long duration of effect.
Here’s the thing…it’s the unnecessary “topping off” of filler too often that results in the odd and obvious outcomes. It sneaks up on us too. We gradually develop a perception drift and totally forget what we looked like at baseline. Morphing into someone unrecognizable from our natural beginning.
Seek out a provider that isn’t afraid to say “No.”
One that respects a natural aesthetic, and one that understands the true duration of effect of these awesome and long lasting products.
Fillers aren’t the problem. It’s their overuse by clinicians that also think that after a year they have totally “gone away.”
Fillers are amazing and in the right hands can deliver the most beautiful and natural results. I LOVE this patient’s incredible and long lasting results. Lucky her…I had her go get a facial instead!!
